Children with Severe Food Allergies

Childhood food allergies are increasing in the UK. The nursery has experience of catering to meet the needs of children who have experienced Anaphylaxis. This condition may be triggered by a number of food types, but most commonly nuts. As in the home environment, it would be impossible to completely guarantee against cross contamination of food. We are a nut free setting. Children will not be allowed nuts in their lunchboxes or products that contain nuts or traces of nuts.

Whilst we do all we can to minimise the risk, we would never give a parent a 100% guarantee. For this reason, staff are trained to recognise and react to the onset of a severe allergic reaction.

Nurseries and Pre-schools

At our nurseries and pre-schools, we provide healthy snacks that meet the nutritional needs of the children. We encourage children to try new things. The children are asked to bring in 1 piece of fruit a day which is cut up and shared for morning snack. This encourages children to try different fruits they may not have at home. A healthy afternoon snack is provided by preschool and meets the nutritional needs of the children.
